Community Private Practice Councillor, American Gastroenterological Association (AGA)
Lawrence S. Kim, MD, AGAF, was born and raised in Southern New Jersey. He attended Princeton University, NJ, for his undergraduate studies and graduated cum laude from the Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs. Dr. Kim received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, and went on to complete internship and residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, MA. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, where he pursued additional training in outcomes and clinical research. During fellowship, Dr. Kim also received advanced training in endoscopic ultrasound, which remains an area of special interest.
Dr. Kim has been a leader in organized medicine throughout his career. In 2004, he was the first gastroenterologist to join the board of directors of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, the leading accreditor of ambulatory endoscopy centers. In 2011, he was elected to the AGA Institute Governing Board as community private practice councillor. Dr. Kim also serves the AGA as co-editor for AGA eDigest. Dr. Kim is committed to improving the quality of digestive care worldwide; he has led or served on multiple medical missions to Vietnam and Cambodia.
Beyond his professional activities, he is first and foremost a dedicated husband and father. An avid skier and outdoors enthusiast, he loves nothing more than spending a day in the Colorado mountains with his family.
