Fifteen-Year-Old Fellowship Awardee Studies NSAIDs & Horses

The Charlotte Observer ran an online feature article on 15-year-old Mary Brown, one of 10 recipients of the AGA Foundation Student Research Fellowship Awards. She will spend her summer doing graduate-level research at North Carolina State University's veterinary school.

The 16th annual Masters Awards in Gastroenterology, in cooperation with AGA Institute, were presented at DDW® 2010. The awards recognize outstanding achievement in basic or clinical research in digestive sciences and sustained achievement in digestive science.

Winner: Mary K. Estes, PhD, Texas Gulf Coast Digestive Disease Center

Mary K. Estes, PhD, is professor of molecular virology and microbiology and medicine, gastroenterology, at Baylor College of Medicine and founding director of the Texas Gulf Coast Digestive Diseases Center. She is the first woman to be selected for the Distinguished Achievement Award since its creation in 1968.
