GI LEARN (Lifelong Education and Research Network) serves as the delivery portal for all online educational activities developed by the AGA Institute. Through GI LEARN members can access course capture for the Clinical Congress as well as custom developed activities such as the Nutrition Toolkit Series. GI LEARN also enables members to develop customized personal learning portfolios and acquire CME credit for Point of Care (POC) clinical searches. Finally, as part of the AGA’s strong commitment to its fellow members, GI LEARN also features several specific applications to meet this constituency’s education and training needs: an online procedure log, journal club and compilation of current suggested readings in gastroenterology and hepatology. Diversity Program The number of minority gastroenterologists’ remains very small and the Investing in the Future: Promoting Diversity in GI program is intended to encourage highly qualified minority internal medicine residents to consider careers in gastroenterology. A number of past participants have matched in GI fellowships and remain in communication with AGA key leaders. It is not only a rewarding experience for the participants, but more importantly this meeting provides a foundation for their successful career in GI. |

Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program The Investing in the Future programs are designed to provide travel scholarships and special programming to GI fellows interested in a career in IBD clinical research and special programming for internal medicine residents who are interested in pursuing a GI career. These programs have been held in conjunction with DDW the past five years and remain very successful. A number of past participants have matched in GI fellowships and others remain in communication with AGA key leaders. |

Focused Clinical Updates |

DDW’s Focused Clinical Update (FCU) sessions feature novel views on emerging research on important areas of GI such as IBD, IBS, GERD and GI cancers. Each session is moderated by a renowned expert who reviews all of the numerous abstracts on the topic to be presented at DDW, and selects approximately 10 abstracts to showcase and discuss with the audience, in a lecture synthesizing the most important new findings. This rich cross section of DDW content consistently draws a strong attendance. |
