Attracting MD/PhD Students into Gastroenterology Workshop

Held in conjunction with the Academic Skills Workshop.

This workshop is designed to encourage future physician-scientists to pursue a career in gastroenterology through a series of lectures and interactive discussions that will emphasize the wide spectra of GI research opportunities.

The workshop will demonstrate how gastroenterologists can cultivate their particular areas of research and interests, e.g. oncology, infectious disease, immunology, nutrition, geriatrics, gender impact, ect.

Full travel grants are available to selected students as well as some meals on site. Accepted students will recieve a free one-year student membership to the AGA, and one-year subscriptions to the AGA journals Gastroenterology and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Eligibility

MD/PhD student who has committed to thesis research in gastroenterology or who would like to learn more about the various research opportunities in gastroenterology.

Application Instructions

Download and complete the application in its entirety. Submit the application along with ALL requested supporting documents. Applications that do NOT contain all of the requested materials WILL NOT be considered. The deadline to submit an application is Nov. 11, 2011..

Selection Criteria & Review Process

Applications will be reviewed and selected by the workshop course directors and faculty. Participants will be notified via e-mail of their acceptance by Jan. 2, 2012.

Accommodations

Hotel and flight fee for accepted students will be covered by the travel grant. Meals outside of the workshop and ground transportation to and from the airport will not be covered.
