The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) and Imedex have collaborated in the development of this meeting to meet the educational needs of all health-care professionals who treat and manage patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. This conference is for health-care professionals and researchers who study and manage patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. The conference consist of four agenda tracks (clinical, basic science, pediatric or nursing) alongside special events, receptions, poster presentations, symposia, and more.

This activity is designed for gastroenterologists, hospitalists, internal medicine specialists and other health-care professionals (physicians-in-training, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, etc.) involved and/or interested in the therapeutic management of patients with IBD.

Registration Fee Inclusions:

Registration fees include admittance to all scientific sessions, conference materials, processing of certificates of attendance or continuing medical education, and all event functions as specified in the agenda.

Exhibitor registration fees do not include admittance to the scientific sessions.

Cancellation:

For registration fees to be refunded, written notice of cancellation must be received at meetings@imedex.com no later than Nov. 19, 2015. The amount of registration fees remitted, minus a $75 administrative charge, will be refunded after the conference. Substitutions are accepted with written notification. Refunds are not available after Nov. 19, 2015.

Imedex does not accept responsibility for covering travel, accommodation or any other costs incurred by registrants in the rare event that this meeting should be canceled for any reason. Every effort will be made to give reasonable notice in the event of cancellation. The event agenda is subject to change without notice.

Takeaways

Clinical Track
Upon successful completion of the clinical track, participants will be better able to:

  • Identify novel evidence-based therapeutics and contemporary treatment options, including the best combinations and sequence of agents for IBD patients in different disease settings.
  • Analyze controversial issues in the multidisciplinary management of pediatric and adult IBD to formulate optimal therapeutic algorithms, with considerations for special patient populations and benefits and risks of treatment options.
  • Identify current surgical options for patients with IBD and plan appropriate post-operative therapeutic management.
  • Recognize primary indications to facilitate endoscopic diagnosis, prognosis and management of IBD.

Basic Science Track
Upon successful completion of the basic science track, participants will be better able to:

  • Interpret the roles of genetic and epigenetic regulation of gene expression in IBD. 
  • Relate the dynamic roles of the microbiome to its effects in modulating inflammatory and other IBD-related disease processes.  
  • Evaluate the immune mechanisms that underlie the pathogenesis of IBD.
  • Overcome challenges in translational research to optimize therapeutic approaches conceptualized in the laboratory and implemented in the clinic.
  • Assess novel models and methodologies that will lead to the elucidation of mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of IBD.

Pediatrics Track
Upon successful completion of the pediatrics track, participants will be better able to:

  • Determine optimal therapeutic approaches for pediatric patients hospitalized with refractory ulcerative colitis.
  • Recognize and mange psychosocial, behavioral and opioid dependence issues affecting pediatric patients with IBD.
  • Plan optimal use of immunomodulators and biologics for the treatment of pediatric IBD in order to mitigate therapeutic complications.
  • Evaluate “step up” versus “top down” strategies for the management of Crohn’s disease in pediatric patients with growth failure.
  • Identify, diagnosis and manage fistulizing pediatric Crohn’s disease.

Nursing Track
Upon successful completion of the nursing track, participants will be better able to:

  • Evaluate principles of quality improvement to better understand methodologies and tools available to enhance quality of care for patients with IBD.
