"Shark Tank" at the 2017 AGA Tech Summit

To help bring new GI technologies to the attention of investors and industry, the AGA Institute and SAGES invites inventors, innovative companies, academic institutions, and technology transfer and commercialization groups to apply to present at the 2017 AGA Tech Summit.

If you're planning to submit or discuss any ideas or inventions, before you submit or present them at the summit, please keep in mind that discussing or displaying them at the summit may be considered a public disclosure of the idea or invention. This can potentially impact your right to protect that idea or invention.

You may also have duties to your employer relating to that idea or invention and should discuss the impact of a disclosure with the proper representatives of your employer before you submit or discuss it.

Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, interested applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Medical device/technology must address an unmet need in gastroenterology, hepatology, obesity or nutrition
  • Medical device/technology must be new and innovative

Selection Criteria and Review Process
Organizers of the summit will evaluate the applications. Successful applicats will be those considered to have addressed the application questions appropriately and for which the device/technology is consistent with the summit's focus.

Only five presentation slots are available. Those meeting the eligibility requirements will be considered in the order they were submitted. If selected to participate, separate registration for the Tech Summit is required.

Application Instructions
An application and all supporting materials must be submitted by Feb. 15, 2017. Applicants will receive notice of their status by March 8, 2017.

Presentation Format
Presentations are restricted to five minutes and should focus on the following points:

  • Brief overview of the technology
  • Issue/need to be addressed by the technology
  • Target population (if known)
  • FDA status

Presentations must be submitted for review by April 3, 2017, or presentation will be forfeited.
