Enroll in the AGA Registry by Jan. 25 to Earn a 0.5 Percent Bonus for Reporting on HCV
The CMS-qualified AGA Digestive Health Outcomes Registry® provides gastroenterologists and hepatologists with an easy and inexpensive way to report on the hepatitis C measures group as part of the CMS Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). Using the registry’s simple online forms, a physician can potentially earn a 0.5 percent bonus on all Medicare Part B allowable charges for calendar year 2012.
Physicians wanting to use the AGA Registry to submit to CMS for the 2012 Physician Quality Reporting System have until Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, to enroll and until Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, to enter their patient data.
Earning the 2012 physician quality reporting bonus through the AGA Registry is much easier than using claims-based physician reporting, which requires billing codes and submitting data for 80 percent of eligible patients. Physicians who use the registry need only to successfully report on 30 unique patients aged 18 and over with chronic hepatitis C. Additionally, physicians who do not see at least 30 chronic hepatitis C patients per year can report on at least 80 percent of their patients, provided that they have seen at least 16 patients with chronic hepatitis C within 2012, or at least eight patients during either half of the year.
Additional benefits of using the registry for submission of data include:
Improve Patient Care
Monitor patient interactions, track interventions, identify and address gaps in quality of care, and measure quality outcomes.
Manage Patient Populations
Proactively manage clinical conditions for entire patient populations by running reports on specific care criteria. As you enter patient data into the registry, you will be able to generate listings of your patients who are in need of certain interventions or follow-up.
Benchmark Your Practice
Identify practice strengths and weaknesses using the registry's GI-specific clinical data from other practices to compare to the performance and outcomes data of your practice. Run quality reports on-demand, providing clinician- and practice-level results and patient-level detail for all AGA Registry measures.
Enhance Quality and Practice Efficiency
Use the registry data to analyze practice processes and procedures and as a source for fact-based decision-making. Because the AGA Registry captures data over time, it helps practices efficiently manage patient care and demonstrate the appropriate use of resources to payors and purchasers.
