Help IBS Patients Better Understand Their Condition

January 19, 2012

To help aid in the management and treatment process of one of the most common digestive disorders treated by gastroenterologists, IBS, the AGA Institute has developed the brochure IBS: A Patient’s Guide to Living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Supported by educational grants from Forrest Laboratories and Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, the brochure is designed to give patients diagnosed with the disorder facts about IBS, a better understanding of their condition and a starting point for discussions with their physician.

The ten-page brochure highlights topics such as:

  • Living with IBS.
  • Causes of IBS.
  • Symptoms and diagnosis.
  • IBS triggers.
  • Treatment and more.

The IBS patient brochure is a free education tool that physicians can order from the AGA Institute to disperse amongst their patients and the general public. It also helps improve in-office communication between physician and patients about the symptoms and diagnosis of IBS.
