Celiac Disease, Eosinophilic Esophagitis and GERD

Celiac disease has been linked to gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), but population-based studies of the prevalence of celiac in these conditions are lacking. Publishing in the Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, Jonas Ludvigsson and colleagues report that their population-based study found no increased risk of celiac among individuals with GERD, esophageal eosinophilia or EoE. Celiac screening of individuals with GERD or EoE of individuals with celiac disease cannot be recommended.
