More than 60 AGA members visited Capitol Hill on Sept. 17, 2015, to fight for the practice and science of gastroenterology during AGA's Advocacy Day. They met with lawmakers to discuss the potentially devastating effects that proposed reductions to reimbursement for colonoscopies might have on the strides that have been made in reducing deaths related to colorectal cancer.

Additionally, they discussed the success that research and medical breakthroughs have had for their patients and encouraged Congress to support increased funding for NIH

“AGA supports the science and practice of gastroenterology,” said Peter S. Margolis, MD, AGAF, chair of the AGA Government Affairs Committee. “By meeting with members of Congress, we hope to continue the dialog about gastroenterologists’ place in health-care delivery and research discoveries to ensure that our patients continue to receive the care that they deserve.”
