AGA Supports Your Efforts to Treat Obesity

Oct. 25, 2017

AGA resources support the needs of GIs in managing the obesity care team.

AGA understands the importance of embracing obesity as a chronic, relapsing disease. We offer resources and support for gastroenterologists who are interested in leading a multi-disciplinary care team to help patients with obesity achieve a healthy weight.

Observe National Obesity Care Week
AGA is pleased to support National Obesity Care Week, Sunday, Oct. 29, through Saturday, Nov. 4, which aims to raise awareness and advance evidence-based understanding of obesity and widespread access to respectful, comprehensive and appropriate care. The vision of the week-long observance is to create a society that understands, respects and accepts the complexities of obesity and values science-based care. Take the Take 5 Pledge to show your commitment to get involved and change the way we care for patients with obesity.
Show Support for Obesity-Focused Legislation
AGA has joined the Obesity Care Advocacy Network (OCAN), a diverse group of organizations whose purpose is to change the national perception of obesity and how to address the problem. OCAN aims to change how the U.S. health care system manages and treats patients with obesity by urging lawmakers to recognize obesity as a complex chronic disease. Contact your legislators to encourage them to sign onto and support legislation to help ensure that patients with obesity receive the care that they need.
