Help AGA Increase Access to CRC Screening

July 22, 2015

AGA advocates that Medicare patients shouldn’t be responsible for a co-pay or deductible for CRC screenings.

AGA has long advocated, both on the Hill and to CMS, to remove all cost-sharing barriers impacting access to colorectal cancer (CRC) screenings given the impact that screening has had on reducing the incidence of and death from colorectal cancer in our country. And while there has been broad bipartisan support of this issue in Congress, we are not done with our work. Many Medicare patients still wind up paying out of pocket if they undergo a screening colonoscopy in which a polyp is found that needs to be removed or if they receive positive stool screening tests that require a subsequent colonoscopy.

We need you to get involved to keep this issue on the congressional radar. Reach out to Congress and urge them to cosponsor and support the Removing Barriers to Colorectal Cancer Screening Act.

AGA will continue to work with our sister societies and patient advocacy groups to advocate for passage of this legislation, which will help increase access to screening colonoscopy.
