New Insurance Coverage Determination for Lynch Syndrome Patients

Nov. 16, 2016

Policy is effective for patients in VA, WV, NC and SC who have Palmetto GBA insurance.

Palmetto GBA, which offers coverage to patients in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, has changed their local coverage determination (LCD) on genetic testing for Lynch syndrome (L35024) to reflect the recommendations of the AGA guideline on Lynch syndrome.

Initially, the LCD limited coverage for testing to patients aged 70 and younger. The change to the LCD will not limit coverage based on age. The change in coverage became effective Oct. 13, 2016.

AGA would like to thank the hard work of its Coverage and Reimbursement Subcommittee for their hard work in writing the letter that resulted in this change. Read more about the change.
