Welcome Soon-To-Be Vice President Bishr Omary!

Bishr Omary, MD, PhD, AGAF, will join the AGA Institute board as vice president in June 2018. He will serve as president in 2020-2021.

Dr. Omary, former editor-in-chief of Gastroenterology, executive vice dean of research at the University of Michigan Medical School and chief scientific officer for Michigan Medicine, will be joining the AGA Institute board as vice president this June. He will serve as president in 2020 -2021.

A regular faculty at the AGA Academic Skills Workshop, Dr. Omary has also served on a variety of AGA committee including Education and Training, Nominating, Research Policy and Publications. His broad range of contributions to the AGA community are mirrored by his scientific research contributions on a diverse mix of topics, particularly with regard to liver and pancreas biology and disease perspectives.
