AGA Releases Tools for CRC Awareness

March 1, 2018

Help AGA raise awareness around the importance of choosing to get screened for colorectal cancer (CRC).

It’s time to start spreading the word about Colorectal Cancer Awareness month and the importance of choosing to get screened. This year, AGA created the video, Life Matters, to encourage people to make the choice to get screened. On our social media pages through the month of March, AGA will be sharing the stories of people who have been screened and the reasons why they get screened to spread the word and encourage others to do the same. Would you like to share your screening story? We'd love to hear it
There are many ways you can join AGA to help raise awareness for CRC:
  1. Talk to your patients about CRC. Discuss their personal history with them and encourage them to get screened. Visit our PatientINFO Center for resources to provide to patients to help them understand risk factors and screening options.
  2. Post a message on your practice website so when patients visit your page, they’ll see that reminder to get screened for CRC. You can also create a link to AGA’s patient materials, so patients can get more information.
  3. Share AGA Facebook posts of CRC screening stories with your family, friends and peers. Your practice can share our materials on their Facebook page too.
  4. Share our video! Help us to remind people to choose to get screened by sharing our Life Matters video on your practice website and social media pages.
  5. Dress in blue! National Dress in Blue Day is Friday, March 2, 2018. Encourage your colleagues to dress in blue to help spread awareness. Don’t forget to share photos of your staff in blue on social media with the hashtag #DressinBlueDay or email your pictures to communications@gastro.org.
