Vice Chair William R. Brugge, MD, AGAF
Dear Member of the Imaging and Advanced Technology Section:
Thank you for making our sessions at the 40th annual DDW® in Chicago, IL scientifically relevant and exciting! If you have specific feedback regarding speakers sponsored by the Imaging and Advanced Technology (IAT) Section at DDW, please share your thoughts with us. We will do our best to consider your comments and concerns as we plan our program for DDW 2010 in New Orleans.
This year the IAT section was pleased to accept 80 percent of the abstracts submitted for review. The accepted abstracts were designated as oral or poster presentations based on their ranking by our dedicated abstract reviewers.

Very soon the IAT section descriptors will be reviewed to minimize overlapping topics with other AGA Institute Sections and to encourage both clinical research and basic science abstract submissions. The current list of abstract review descriptors is as follows. (IAT descriptors may change slightly as we go forward to DDW 2010.) We would like to thank our abstract review Committee Chairs and members for generously sharing their expertise and time in order to ensure that the most novel and relevant developments in Imaging and Advanced Technology were shared at DDW.

Section leaders will review committee membership this summer for abstract review committees to confirm the final composition for DDW 2010 committees.
IAT section members interested in serving in this capacity are encouraged to contact us and volunteer to review abstracts.
Please submit your invaluable ideas about the topics and invited speakers that you would like to hear at next year's DDW. The more specific you can be, the better (title, individual talks, speakers, learning objectives). Please forward your suggestions to us (e-mail addresses below, and please copy John Whiton, AGA Institute, at jwhiton@gastro.org) by July 6, 2009.
Members interested in participating in the various activities of the Section should contact us at the addresses below. We are particularly interested in increasing participation by junior investigators/clinicians and international members at this time.
If you are interested in serving as a reviewer for any of our abstract descriptors, please let us know. Please cite the abstract descriptor for which you would be interested in reviewing. Please recommend any new descriptors for abstracts.
Additionally, please note that elections for the 2010-2012 IAT Vice-Chair and Nomination Committee Members will take place in January and February 2010. More information regarding elections will be distributed closer to this date. Nominees will be solicited in January to stand for election in February.
Thank you for your continuing strong support of the Imaging and Advanced Technology Section.
Sincerely,
