Dear Member of the Pancreatic Disorders Section:
Thank you for making our sessions at the 40th annual DDW® in Chicago, IL scientifically relevant and exciting! If you have specific feedback regarding speakers sponsored by the Pancreatic Disorders (PAN) Section at DDW, please share your thoughts with us. We will do our best to consider your comments and concerns as we plan our program for DDW 2010 in New Orleans.
I would particularly like to thank our immediate past Chair, Randall K. Pearson, for his dedicated leadership of the section. Our section held elections for the leadership positions of Vice-Chair and Nominating Committee Members and the results are as follows:
Vice-Chair: Chris E. Forsmark, MD
2009-2011 Nominating Committee Members: Randall Brand, MD; Suresh T. Chari, MD; Girish Mishra, MD, MS; and Massimo Raimondo, MD.
Our new Vice-Chair, Chris E. Forsmark, MD will serve a two-year term followed by two additional years as Section Chair. Congratulations to all our newly elected members!

Very soon the PAN section descriptors will be reviewed to minimize overlapping topics with other AGA Institute Sections and to encourage both clinical research and basic science abstract submissions. The current list of abstract review descriptors is as follows. (PAN descriptors may change slightly as we go forward to DDW 2010.) We would like to thank our abstract review Committee Chairs and members for generously sharing their expertise and time in order to ensure that the most novel and relevant developments in Pancreatic Disorders were shared at DDW.

Section leaders will review committee membership this summer for abstract review committees to confirm the final composition for DDW 2010 committees.
PAN section members interested in serving in this capacity are encouraged to contact us and volunteer to review abstracts.
Please submit your invaluable ideas about the topics and invited speakers that you would like to hear at next year's DDW. The more specific you can be, the better (title, individual talks, speakers, learning objectives). Please forward your suggestions to us (e-mail addresses below, and please copy John Whiton, AGA Institute, at jwhiton@gastro.org) by July 6, 2009.
Members interested in participating in the various activities of the Section should contact us at the addresses below. We are particularly interested in increasing participation by junior investigators/clinicians and international members at this time. Members are also encouraged to review this year’s business meeting minutes.
If you are interested in serving as a reviewer for any of our abstract descriptors, please let us know. Please cite the abstract descriptor for which you would be interested in reviewing. Please recommend any new descriptors for abstracts.
Thank you for your continuing strong support of the Pancreatic Disorders Section.
Sincerely,
Rodger A. Liddle, MD
