About AGA Advocacy
The AGA Public Policy Department, under the leadership and guidance of the Public Affairs and Advocacy Committee, develops and implements a rigorous public policy agenda. This agenda includes issues relating to clinical practice and biomedical research and other issues of interest to gastroenterologists in the practice and academic environments.
AGA's professional staff interacts with Congress and regulatory agencies on an ongoing basis to promote and protect the interests of gastroenterologists and their patients. We also play a leadership role in forming and participating in coalitions on many issues in order to maximize our effectiveness in advocacy campaigns. The Public Policy Department also develops tools to assist AGA members become more involved in grassroots advocacy.
