AGAs Commitment to Privacy
AGA values your privacy and acknowledges the sensitivity of your personal information. We have carefully created our Privacy Policy to address any concerns you may have and to assure you that we will handle your personal information appropriately. This privacy policy is effective on June 30, 2005.
Collection and Use of Information
The AGA collects contact information to process meeting registration and send promotional e-mails to our members. Credit card information is handled by a third-party vendor to process online transactions. A members credit card data is gathered for the short period of time required to process an online transaction. With respect to security, when we transfer and receive certain types of sensitive information such as financial information, we redirect visitors to a secure server. If you do not want to receive e-mails from us in the future, please send a request via e-mail to member@gastro.org. Please note that you will no longer receive AGA eDigest or monthly e-mails from the president of the AGA.
Persons who supply us with their telephone numbers on-line will only receive telephone contact from us with information regarding orders they have placed on-line.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files which enable a Web site to recognize repeat users. Cookies do not collect personally identifying information. They collect information concerning the characteristics of your computer. We use cookies so that an AGA member does not have to retype his/her password when he/she accesses member-only Web content (i.e. member-only publications, membership directory and other member resources.) An AGA member must choose remember me for the cookie to work.
AGA cannot control the use of cookies by third parties hosting data for www.gastro.org If you prefer that information not be collected through the use of cookies there is a simple procedure in most browsers that enables a user to reject or accept the cookie feature. However, if you reject the cookie feature, you will need to sign on to the member-only sections each time you want to access these sections of the AGA site.
The AGA Web site may provide you with links to the Web sites of other organizations. If you choose to access these Web sites, AGA is not responsible for any actions or policies of such organizations. We recommend that you review the applicable privacy policy of such organizations before providing personal information to it, as its Privacy Policy may be different from the AGA Web sites policy.

AGA members can correct their contact information by accessing the "Update Profile" Web page at http://interview.gastro.org/interview/memberonly.tass and entering changes to their contact information.
