AGA Biannual Scientific Exchange With UEG Continues at DDW® 2017

AGA and the United European Gastroenterology (UEG) will cosponsor two sessions at DDW 2017 on May 7 & 8 in Chicago, IL.

On Sunday, May 7, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., the AGA/UEG Rising Scholars: Advances in Research, a Multitopic Discussion session will showcase research from the AGA Research Scholar and UEG Rising Star Awardees. Attendees will gain innovative insights from exceptional early career GI faculty.

This session will be chaired by Linda Rabeneck, MD, MPH, FRCPC, AGA International Committee chair, and Herbert Tilg, MD, UEG National Societies chair, and will feature the following presentations:

  • “Markers and Modifiers of Chronic Liver Diseases” by Pavel Strnad, MD, 2016 UEG Rising Star.
  • “The Role of Radiation Therapy When Combined with Immunotherapy in the Treatment of Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma” by Christina A. Twyman-Saint Victor, MD, 2015 AGA Research Scholar.
  • “Gastric and Hypothalamic Functions in Human Satiation” by Barham K. Abu Dayyeh, MD, 2013 AGA Research Scholar.

On Monday, May 8, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., hear experts share the latest and best in clinical practice and basic research presented at UEG Week 2016. Best of UEG Week at DDW will be chaired by David A. Lieberman, MD, AGAF, AGA vice president, and Michael Manns, MD, UEG president, and feature the following topics and speakers:

  • Liver and Pancreas: Marco Bruno, MD, PhD  
  • Endoscopy: Marianna Arivanitakis, MD, PhD
  • Oncology and Surgery: Alberto Arezzo, MD, PhD
  • IBD and Other Lower GI Diseases: Dr. Herbert Tilg
  • Upper GI and Small Intestine: Sibylle Koletzko, MD, PhD
