Changes to AGA Abstract Descriptors and Section Names

Oct. 25, 2017

Review AGA section name changes and descriptors before you submit an abstract to Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2018.

The AGA Institute Council is excited to announce two section name changes and the abstract descriptor list for Digestive Disease Week® (DDW). Both changes will impact the categories available for this year.
The DDW abstract submission site is now open. We encourage you to share your science with AGA at DDW by the Dec. 1, 2017, deadline. If you have any questions about the information below, please contact the council team.
AGA Institute Council Section Name Changes
The AGA Institute maintains a council to address the diverse needs and specialties of its members. To better illustrate the following sections' focus, the AGA Governing Board has passed the following name changes:
  1. The Imaging & Advanced Technology (IAT) section is now the Imaging, Endoscopy & Advanced Technology (IEAT) section
  2. The Intestinal Disorders (ID) section is now the Basic and Clinical Intestinal Disorders (BCID) section.
If you are not currently affiliated with AGA sections or want to update your selections, visit your My AGA profile today. You can choose up to six sections based on your scientific interests. Section affiliations are used to tailor your AGA eDigest as well as other messaging.
Abstract Descriptors
To help match your abstract(s) to the best descriptor for submission, we’ve provided an expanded descriptor document to indicate what the abstract review committee is looking for in submitted abstracts. Review the expanded descriptor list or visit the council webpage to learn more.
After choosing AGA Institute as the society in which to submit your abstract during the DDW submission process, you will then select the appropriate sponsoring section and sub-category, or descriptor. Please keep the above information in mind while choosing your category.
