The Immunology, Microbiology & Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Section presented exciting and innovative research in the field at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2017. Section leaders higlight their favorite sessions and encourage you to watch them with DDW On Demand (included in the cost of registration). The Pregnant Patient with IBD: Data for an International Consensus?!: This exciting and interactive new format played to a packed room at McCormick Place. There were five research abstract presentations that updated where we are in the management of pregnant patients with IBD. The sixth session was a discussion among attendees and IBD experts from around the globe on what consensus we can reach internationally on management of this complex patient population, particularly with respect to continuing biologics and immunomodulators throughout pregnancy. 

Immunology, Microbiology and IBD Distinguished Abstract Plenary and Section Business Meeting: This was the best of the best clinical and basic science IBD abstracts for 2017. Of 900 abstracts submitted to IMIBD, listen to the best six! This session included the first-time data from CALM study was presented which provided evidence for a treat-to-target approach versus standard care. 

Farron and Martin Brotman, MD, Lecture — The Modern Medical Management of IBD: Biologics, Biosimilars and Small Molecules: If you are going to listen to only one session in IBD, this is the one for you — a concise update on biologics, biosimilars and small molecules so you are up-to-date on the very latest arsenal for the treatment of IBD. In this recording, the world’s experts discuss how to optimize existing drugs and prepare to use novel agents in your practice. This session was made possible thanks to a generous grant from Dr. and Mrs. Brotman to the AGA Research Foundation.
