Pancreatic Disorders

Pancreatitis IconPancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas, often caused by gallstones or alcohol abuse, though there are other conditions that can cause it. Pancreatitis usually starts as a sudden attack of pain in the upper abdominal area. Treatment should focus on easing pain and meeting the fluid and nutritional needs of the patient. Pancreatitis can be either acute or chronic — both have similar symptoms and can present as mild or severe.
